Langkawi is the perfect destination for couples exploring Southeast Asia. If you’re planning a trip to Malaysia, make sure to dedicate at least 3 days to this beautiful island in the Andaman Sea. We spent 3 wonderful days on this stunning island, and the 3-day Langkawi Itinerary we’re sharing will be perfect for couples planning a romantic getaway.

Langkawi offers a serene and relaxing vibe, ideal for couples seeking a tropical retreat. The island’s lush rainforests and unique mangroves create an enchanting experience you won’t find anywhere else in the world.
While two days might feel rushed, a three-day itinerary is just right for exploring Langkawi’s local sightseeing spots, enjoying vibrant night markets, and visiting its major attractions.
Although many of the attractions are man-made, the island also offers plenty of opportunities to connect with nature—whether it’s lounging on tranquil beaches or discovering hidden gems among the local islands.
For those who want to completely unwind, spending an extra day or two on Langkawi’s calm beaches is a great idea. However, staying beyond 5-6 days might feel monotonous, as there isn’t an extensive list of attractions, unless you are on a relaxing vacation.
Best Time to Visit Langkawi
The best time to visit Langkawi is between November and March, when the weather is warm, dry, and perfect for outdoor activities. Rain typically starts from April onwards, that can disrupt travel plans.
We visited in February, and the weather was absolutely wonderful. Sunny skies and pleasant temperatures made it ideal for exploring the beaches, mangroves, and other attractions. If you’re planning a trip, this season is highly recommended for a hassle-free and enjoyable experience. But expect a lot of crowd during this season, as this is the peak tourist season in Langkawi.
How to Go to Langkawi

Langkawi International Airport (LGK) is well-connected to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), with frequent flights available. Direct flights are also offered from Singapore (SIN) and Bengaluru (BLR) in India.
Another cheap way to get to Langkawi is to take a bus from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Perlis via bus ($10). From there, take a ferry ($5). But take caution because, if the sea may be rough sometimes.
We booked a direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi International Airport (LGK) for just $60 round trip per person.
As part of our well-planned Southeast Asia trip, we arrived in Langkawi after spending a month in Thailand and a few days in Kuala Lumpur (KL).

In Kuala Lumpur, we explored iconic attractions like the KL Tower, Batu Caves, and Genting Highlands before heading to Langkawi.
Day 1:
Our flight was early in the morning, and we reached Langkawi Airport at around 8 AM. It’s a small but well-equipped airport. The 45-minute flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) was blissful, offering beautiful views of the Andaman Sea.

Upon arrival, we booked a taxi to our stay in Pantai Kok, which cost us around 12 MYR. For the next two nights, we stayed at the Berjaya Langkawi Resort, an idyllic retreat in a quiet, secluded location surrounded by lush green jungle and mountains.
The resort was almost nestled in the jungle, where different species of birds and animals can be found. Later in the evening, our hotel arranged a guided tour within the resort, during which we spotted various fascinating species.
We chose the Premier Chalet on Water, a stunning water villa, and got a good deal at $380 per night, including complimentary breakfast. After some rest, we headed to the resort’s private beach, accessible only to guests.
For lunch, we dined at Pahn-Thai Restaurant, the resort’s overwater restaurant. It was an incredible experience enjoying delicious food surrounded by the sea. I highly recommend this spot for couples visiting the resort.
Langkawi Sky Bridge and Cable Car
After lunch, we visited the Langkawi Sky Bridge and Cable Car, just 1 km from Berjaya Langkawi Resort. The resort provided a complimentary transfer to the Sky Bridge.
We first explored the Oriental Village, which has some great restaurants, shops and a beautiful pond with different types of fishes. Try to visit the place during early morning.
After a brief walk, we reached the ticket counter. There are different types of combo tickets available. We purchased express entry tickets for $30 each which covers most of the attractions.

There are four types of gondolas to choose from:
- VIP
- 360 Degree
- Glass Bottom
- Standard
We opted for the Glass Bottom Gondola, which offered a thrilling view of the landscape below.
The Sky Bridge is a must-see. The views of the mountains and the sea are breathtaking, and the thrilling cable car ride adds to the experience. Allocate around 5-6 hours for this trip, as it includes exploring the Eagle’s Nest, Skybridge and capturing stunning photos of the panorama.

Tip: The Sky Bridge ticket counter operates from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and tickets can be booked online at panoramalangkawi.com.
3D Art Museum
Next, we visited the Art in Paradise 3D Museum, which was included in our Sky Bridge ticket. It was a delightful, interactive experience with artistic displays and photo opportunities.

Sunset Cruise
In the evening, we went on a sunset catamaran cruise. It started at 6 PM, with drinks served as soon as we boarded. Dinner followed at 7 PM, and the food, especially the prawns, was delicious.

We enjoyed a relaxing evening under the stars, accompanied by live music, unlimited drinks, and a barbecue. The crew was fantastic, and the views of the sunset over the sea were magical. This 4-hour cruise was a highlight of our trip. We opted for pick up & drop to our hotel.
Day 2:
After breakfast at the resort, we rented a scooter for 10 MYR (24 hours) to explore Langkawi at our own pace. Those who are not comfortable riding a scooter can easily use Grab for convenient transportation around the island.
Mangrove Tour
We booked a Mangrove Boat Tour for 350 MYR, which explored the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park via a private boat. This tour showcases beautiful mangroves, awesome caves, and diverse wildlife.

We first saw eagles, followed by playful monkeys. The boat also passed through caves. At one point, the boat dropped us in front of a cave, where we paid a small 2 MYR fee to walk inside and we saw lots of bats.

Later, we visited a fish farm, where we saw a variety of fascinating fish species. The boat then took us to a scenic viewpoint, perfect for capturing great pictures with the Kilim Geoforest Park signage.
The trip lasted around 2 to 2.5 hours, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. To us, the Mangrove Tour was worth every penny and minute. It’s a must-do experience, and I highly recommend including it in your Langkawi itinerary.
After the tour, we had lunch at a local seafood restaurant on Tanjung Rhu Beach.
Exploring Tanjung Rhu Beach
Tanjung Rhu Beach is a peaceful and less crowded spot. We enjoyed swimming and then rented a kayak from the beach to explore the nearby little islands opposite the shore.

After some kayaking, we returned to the beach and stayed until sunset, around 7 PM. The sunset was spectacular from Tanjung Rhu Beach. There are good restaurants nearby where you can enjoy watching the sunset with your favorite drinks.
Langkawi Night Market

We visited the Temonyong Thursday Market in Kedah, the largest night market in Langkawi. This is the best place to find authentic local food and clothes. It had a lovely atmosphere, making it a great way to spend an evening with your loved one.
However, remember that the night market’s location depends on the day of the week. On Wednesday and Friday, it’s held in Kuah, while on Sunday, it’s in Padang Matsirat. Ask your hotel for the exact schedule, as they usually have up-to-date information.

From the market, we headed to Yellow Beach Cafe for dinner. The ambiance was very romantic. We chose the open-air second floor, from which we grabbed a stunning view of the sea during dinner. The beachfront dining experience was incredible. The prices were reasonable, and they even had live music to enhance the atmosphere.
Day 3:
After having breakfast in the morning, we went to explore the Seven Wells Waterfall (Telaga Tujuh) for some adventure and nature.
We had the option of island hopping, but we skipped it as we’ve done it many times in Thailand.
If you don’t enjoy hiking, as the climb to the waterfall can be a bit tiring, you can opt for the Island Hopping tour on a private boat. This tour takes you to Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest Park and Pulau Beras Basah Island, costing around $80 for a 4-hour tour.
Telaga Tujuh Waterfall
The waterfall was very close to our resort, just a 15-20 minute climb. There are stairs leading up to the waterfall, or you can trek through the jungle, which takes about 30-40 minutes but offers a scenic route. The waterfall was very clean and refreshing.

It was a bit slippery, but it was nice to swim or simply enjoy the beauty of nature. There were very few people around, so we could fully enjoy the calmness. This spot is definitely recommended for active and adventurous couples.
Pantai Cenang Beach
After returning, we had lunch and then went to Pantai Cenang Beach. The beach was very clean and wide.

There are many water sports available during the day, like jet skiing and paragliding, though we didn’t try any. In the evening, we watched a fabulous fire show on the beach, which started after sunset. There are plenty of beach cafes and bars along the shore.

However, don’t expect serenity here, as a large number of tourists come to enjoy the sunset and the the beach becomes quite crowded.
We had our evening flight at 10 PM to Kuala Lumpur, so we left the beach and took a Grab to the airport from our hotel.
Tip for Tourists: While booking tickets online is convenient, it’s always better to book activities like the Mangrove Tour, Skybridge, and Island Hopping directly at the location. Due to the occasional bad weather, your plans may get canceled, and it can be difficult to get a refund for online bookings.
Where to Stay for Couples
In my opinion, the Western Coast of Langkawi is ideal for couples. The best area stretches along the beachfront from Pantai Kok to Pantai Cenang Beach, which is conveniently located near Langkawi Airport.
If you’re looking for decent beachfront resorts in the Pantai Kok area, I would recommend:
- The Danna Langkawi
- Berjaya Langkawi Resort
For options closer to Pantai Cenang, consider:
- The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi
- Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa, Langkawi
If you prefer a serene environment and want to immerse yourself in the rainforest, you can head to the northern part of the island near Tanjung Rhu Beach. I recommend these resorts for a tranquil escape:
- Four Seasons Resort
- Tanjung Rhu Resort
If you’re looking to stay near Langkawi’s town, where you can explore duty-free shops, good restaurants, and the local area, the Kuah region in the southern part of the island offers many affordable hotel options. The area becomes lively at night, though it doesn’t have the same level of nightlife as places like Phuket. Some good options near Kuah are:
- Bayview Hotel
- Adya Hotel
- Dayang Bay Resort.
Cost Breakdown of Our 3-Day Tour in Langkawi:
- Round-trip Tickets from Kuala Lumpur Airport: $120
- Accommodation: 2 Nights in a Water Villa Room at Berjaya Resort – $760
- Food: $150
- Activities: $300
- Local Travel: $100
Total: $1,400–$1,500 for two people over three days.
Langkawi may be a great option for perfect couple’s destination. In 3 days you can explore the island’s beautiful landscapes. This should not be missed anyhow. If you have any questions about our itinerary, feel free to ask!
